Other signs include uneven flow rates in fixtures and faucets (“stammering”), brown or contaminated water, water that has a foul odor, and unusual noise (like running water).

Water line damage can be caused by a number of different factors. Roots can penetrate lines, causing cracks, breaks, or clogs. Water line pipes can corrode over time. Heavy landscaping equipment could crush the line. Pipes can deteriorate or wear out due to age. Soil can shift or move, leading the line to dip instead of run straight and affecting pipe joint integrity. Sudden drops in water pressure can also damage or break water lines.
